so something funny - everytime i've heard locals talk about ottawa, they always end up emphasizing the fact that it's just a hole where there's nothing to do and it's a quiet town where it's slow and boring. LOL. whilst i can see why people who live there would think that - i really really liked the place! i thought it had the perfect blend of victorian-meet-modern architecture, and just enough shops and scenery to make it a really really interesting visit! i'd definately go back, i just wish that i would still be here on the east coast in january - maybe then i could go back to ottawa - just to ice skate along the canal - it's sooooooo beautiful!!
so we did some serious sightseeing yesterday - we were quite efficient too! and OMG. it was sooooo cold! lol. i must admit though, after we had a bite to eat at hard rock, i was feeling a bit queasy, so the cold seemed to help lol. we ended up walking around the downtown area - we saw the rideau (frenchy word that's pronounced ree-dough) centre, sparks street (which is apparently haunted?), parliament house (which was absolutely gorgeous!), government house, chateau laurier, this hill where you could see the bridge to quebec and then the eternal flame. i gotta say. people used to say montreal was the city of lovers outside of paris - but somehow, ottawa seemed to be a much more romantic place! not because there were lots of couples around, but seriously, the street lights and bridges and just the way the streets are (like the sidewalks), were just so perfect for a romantic stroll! hahaha.
after walking around town for most of the arvo, and after doing all that avid sightseeing (whilst freeeeezing our butts off), we got some bubble tea (hahahah!) at bubblecity in chinatown - the place was packed hey, seems like the bubble tea phase is still thumping loud and clear in ottawa hahah. =p this next bit was actually quite funny - see, we went to the casino in a place called hull. okay so that's not the funny bit... the funniest part IS, that as we were driving there, i TOTALLY didn't realize that we had crossed the provincial border from ontario into quebec!! and even more DUH, i didn't even notice how the signs were all in french! hahahah. i felt sooo thick. hahahah. =p the drive wasn't too long either - it's quite weird how downtown ottawa and downtown hull are so close - only a bridge and maybe, 25 minutes away... so the actual casino was preetty good but it really wasn't that much different to burswood, so i guess it wasn't too special. loll. after hitting the cas, the rest of the night went by pretty quickly hey, but it really was full of humour, laughs and some absolutely outrageous fun. so anyway! we took lots of pics along the way, although, i must say that our 600-photo record at montreal still stands. hahah. sooo! here's just a few of the pics. =))
luke, andrea and me at 6am yesterday morning
this is us on the ottawa U campus - i love fall. the fallen bronzy leaves add a touch of class to the surrounding scenery. =p

me in suburbia! aren't the houses pretty?? AND! the ultimate canadian/australian difference - check out the wooden housing structure in the background. we don't build houses like that do we..? i'm pretty sure that we use brick... hahah.
luke, andrea, kevin l, me and kevin t outside kevin l's house.
soooo! overall, the trip to ottawa was a blast - and it was TOTALLY worth it. hahah. pity though that we only got to stay the night. and what's even more pathetic is that the only reason why we came back early was because we all needed to study for our exams/assignments that are due on tuesday... and as it turns out - none of us seem to have done anything! lol! i guess we should've known better hahaha =p
anyway! it's definately time for me to sleep. hahah. mmmmm. sleeep. never sounded so good. hahah. =p
nite!
luv, pheebs.
